More than 100 women and supporters from across the Illawarra’s mining and resources sector came together on 11 March for the 2026 AusIMM Women in Mining Network (WIMNet) Illawarra Networking Breakfast.
Held in the days following International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March, the Breakfast echoed the spirit of the 2026 IWD theme “Give to Gain”, highlighting the idea that when individuals and organisations share knowledge, support, visibility and opportunity, the benefits multiply for women, communities and industries alike.
Proudly hosted and sponsored by GM3, the event delivered an engaging and inspiring morning of panel discussions, story sharing and valuable networking opportunities.
Centred around the theme “Opportunity Through Disruption”, the event opened with an expert panel facilitated by Nicki Bowman, CEO and founder of Bespoke Leadership Solutions. Panel members included i3Net CEO Bianca Perry, Nexus Mining Operations Manager Biljana Jovanovski and Coal Services General Manager Mines Rescue, Regulation and Compliance Erin Lee.
All respected female leaders in their industries, they each shared their insights and advice on building successful careers while navigating periods of significant economic, cultural and technological change. The discussion explored how forces like AI, the green economy and new business ownership can open new opportunities to innovate and build a better future.
The morning ended with an engaging Q&A session followed by networking, providing attendees with the chance to connect, share experiences and strengthen professional relationships across the industry.
On behalf of GM3 and WIMNet Illawarra, we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to our panel members and attendees for their engagement and contribution. Your participation and support play an important role in recognising, championing and celebrating the contributions of women across the Illawarra.
