GM3 Dendrobium Mine’s Rescue team has earned a place at the 2026 Australian Mines Rescue Competition, after being named overall winner at last Friday’s Southern Mines Rescue Competition.
The 67th annual competition brought together six teams from across the NSW Southern District, with participants representing Dendrobium, Appin, Metropolitan and Tahmoor mines.
Throughout the day, teams tackled a range of realistic emergency response scenarios designed to test their technical skills, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure.
After a day of outstanding performances and friendly competition, Dendrobium Blue were named overall winners, while also receiving a number of individual awards including:
- Best Firefighting Team
- Best First Aid Team
- Best Underground Team
- Best Captain – Rob Monkley
The competition concluded with an awards presentation dinner, providing an opportunity to acknowledge the remarkable individual and team performances.
Dendrobium will now begin preparations for the 2026 Australian Mines Rescue Competition in October, where they will represent the southern district on the national stage.
