Founded over a century ago by local miners, the Lowries have always been at the heart of Mt Kembla’s community. Today, many of the players are still local, growing up following a family tradition and carrying forward the values of teamwork, resilience, and pride that have defined the club for generations.
After a 2 year absence from the Illawarra Rugby League second-grade competition due to a lack of players, the Lowries are back and ready to build on their rich history. Former players and legacies of Lowries greats have jumped on board in committee and coaching roles, and many existing players from the region have rejoined the squad.
Their 2026 return will coincide with 20-year celebrations of the club’s 2006 second-grade premiership.
