Supporting Safer Young Drivers Through U Turn The Wheel

Appin Mine U Turn The Wheel Sponsorship

GM³ Appin Mine is proud to support local road safety education initiatives, helping young people develop the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe behind the wheel.

Recently, representatives from the GM³ Community Partnership Program attended the first Rotary Club of Picton NSW U Turn The Wheel session for 2026, held at Wollondilly Anglican College.

Delivered in high schools throughout the Wollondilly and Macarthur area, U Turn The Wheel is designed to help young people make safer choices on the road. The sessions cover a range of important topics, including the dangers of speeding, drink and drug driving, purchasing a safe vehicle, being a responsible passenger, and managing distractions while driving.

The program provides students with real-world insights into the risks faced by young drivers and encourages them to think carefully about the decisions they make every time they get behind the wheel or travel with others. By focusing on awareness, responsibility and practical strategies, U Turn The Wheel aims to reduce road trauma and help create safer communities for everyone.

GM³ supports the initiative through the GM³ Appin Mine Community Partnership Program, with co-funding provided alongside Wollondilly Shire Council. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to investing in programs that deliver meaningful benefits for local communities and equip young people with valuable life skills.

Safety is GM³’s leading value and underpins everything the company does, from its mining operations through to its community partnerships. Supporting programs such as U Turn The Wheel is an extension of that commitment, helping to promote safer behaviours and positive outcomes beyond the workplace.
